University honored for Best Business Contribution to the Community

Rachel Troutman, vice president for university marketing and communications, holds
the award from the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce recognizing Trine University for
Best Business Contribution to the Community.
The Angola Area Chamber of Commerce honored Trine University for the Best Business
Contribution to the Community at its 12th annual Excellence in Business Accolades, known as Ebbies, on April 23.
Held at Glendarin Hills Golf Club In Angola, the event acknowledges professionals
and organizations who set the bar in their respective categories, as determined by
votes from Chamber members.
“This organization is a powerhouse of progress, innovation and community spirit,”
said a statement read at the award presentation. “With continuous growth, they are
not only preparing the next generation of leaders but also putting our community 'on
the map.' Their vibrant location brings jobs, visitors and energy to the area, supporting
local businesses and enriching our economy.”
“From hands-on partnerships with local schools and businesses to free public events,
the organization is deeply embedded in the life of Steuben County. Their dedication
to education, visionary leadership and unwavering support for community initiatives
make a real and lasting impact. The organization is truly an integral part of our
community.”
Rachel Troutman, vice president for university marketing and communications, accepted
the award on behalf of the university.
Trine University faculty members Tim Tyler, Ph.D., professor in the Reiners Department
of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Justin Bock, assistant professor in the
Franks School of Education, received nominations in the Educator of the Year category.
Trine alumna Allie Curdes, an officer in the City of Angola Police Department, was
nominated for First Responder of the Year.
Chamber member businesses are nominated by their peers, earning recognition and prestige
for their great contributions to their customers, the community and the Chamber.
The Trine University Choir will partner with the First Wayne Street Sanctuary Choir in Fort Wayne to perform “Songs to Soothe the Soul,” a celebration of choral music by noted female composers, on Sunday, March 22.
Sport management majors from Trine University’s Ketner School of Business recorded their best team finish and equaled their best individual placement at the National Collegiate Sports Sales Championship.
