Trine Overwatch named to top ECAC division

October 09, 2025

Trine University's varsity Overwatch esports team has been placed in the highest of seven divisions for competition by the ECAC national collegiate esports league.

The team will be among 14 in the ECAC Titans Division. ECAC has 187 members nationwide.

Other teams in the Titans Division include Washington State University, University of Kentucky, Louisiana Tech and University of Virginia.

“Most ECAC divisions include 32 teams, but the Titans Division is highly exclusive, featuring only the elite programs in collegiate ECAC Overwatch,” said Jeremy Goossens, director of esports at Trine. “This marks the first time Trine has reached this level, and it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students.”

Trine’s team is made up of Elton Langley, a sophomore from Indianapolis majoring in computer science and information technology; Jonah Kyle, a junior from Valparaiso, Indiana, majoring in computer science and information technology; Logan Gault, a junior from Indianapolis majoring in computer engineering; Brockstan Tschannen, a junior from Angola, Indiana, majoring in extended reality; and Hudson Kelly, a junior from LaGrange, Indiana, majoring in computer science and information technology.

“The dedication of these five individuals has played a significant role in the growth of our Overwatch program, making it our most popular title, with five teams and 17 freshmen involved,” said Goossens. “One of our new Overwatch teams, comprised of four freshmen and one sophomore, has already earned a spot in Division A, marking the second-highest placement ever achieved by a Trine team, just behind our Titans.”

Trine’s varsity Overwatch team won the ECAC national title in Division D in fall 2024 and Division B in 2025.
