The Trine University Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert, titled "That's Not Baroque," beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the Ryan Concert Hall of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts.
The concert is free and open to the public.
“That’s Not Baroque” features selections and musical titles that evoke the Baroque period from 1600-1750 but may not actually be Baroque.
“Music from the Baroque era was characterized by grandeur, drama and ornamentation with titles such as Prelude, Passacaglia and Toccata,” said Brad Jopek, Ph.D., director of Trine’s music program. “In addition, contemporary musical styles and orchestrations from the 20th and 21st Centuries will be presented with titles such as Elegy, Meditation and Finale containing Baroque musical structures such as fugues, ostinatos and chorales. We also visit Cajun country with ‘Bayou Breakdown’ and will feature performances by student chamber ensembles.”

Flute/Piccolo: Olivia Geringer-Spagnola, an exercise science major from Beecher, Illinois; and Donna Henson-Bohlen, a design engineering technology major from Sturgis, Michigan.
Oboe: Ellie Essenberg, an exercise science major from Middleville, Michigan.
Clarinet: Emily Howard, a biology major from Wolcottville, Indiana; Hannah Knost, a biomedical engineering major from Anderson, Indiana; Andrea Mendoza, a biomedical engineering major from LaGrange, Indiana; Haylee Smith, a chemical engineering major from Wauseon, Ohio; and Emma Wilke, an elementary education major from Mandeville, Louisiana.
Alto Saxophone: Michael Blessing, a mechanical engineering major from Delta, Ohio; Dean Campbell, a chemical engineering major from Batesville, Indiana; Erika Foor, a forensic science major from Lowell, Indiana; Brody Fox, a civil engineering major from Rushville, Indiana; and Ashley Salas, a mechatronics and robotics engineering major from Goshen, Indiana.
Baritone Saxophone: Danita Hillman, a chemical engineering major from Fort Washington, Maryland.

The Humanities Institute at Trine University will host a discussion on Thursday, Nov. 6, with two professional artists about their work as well as how anyone can bring more creativity and inspiration into their life.
Students in Trine University’s Capstone in Sport Management class defeated a team from the University of New Mexico at a Fall Showcase event for the National Collegiate Sports Sales Championship (NCSSC) competition on Oct. 22.
Twenty-five Trine University students, along with high school students from Angola and Kendallville, learned how learned how drones aid law enforcement during a special presentation on Oct. 20.
