Trine University’s Overwatch esports team has qualified for the first ECAC National Founders Invitational, which will be held May 15-17 in San Antonio, Texas.

Selections were based on cumulative performance across the Fall and Spring Division I seasons, with the top four teams in each title qualifying.

“Effectively, the invitational serves as a full academic year Final Four,” said Jeremy Goossens, director of esports at Trine University. “Out of 381 colleges competing in ECAC, and with 167 teams in the fall and 140 in the spring for Overwatch alone, this is a significant achievement for our players and program.”

Competing for Trine will be Hudson Kelly, a computer science and information technology major from LaGrange, Indiana; Logan Gault, a computer engineering major from Indianapolis; Elton Langley, a computer science and information technology major from Indianapolis; Brockstan Tschannen, an extended reality major from Angola, Indiana; and Jonah Kyle, a computer science and information technology major from Valparaiso, Indiana.

Trine’s Overwatch team placed fourth in the nation last fall. The new format, recently announced by ECAC, gives the team the opportunity to win the ECAC National Division 1 2025-26 season.

The ECAC National Founders Invitational will take place at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. One of the premier esports venues in the country, the center has a capacity of 3,800 spectators.
