Trine University is looking back to its founding 140 years ago to encourage support
for the educational and career aspirations of students today.
This year’s Trine Day will last 1,884 minutes, beginning April 18 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on April 19.
The time reflects the year 1884, when a group of visionary Angola, Indiana, residents founded Tri-State Normal College, the predecessor of today’s Trine University.
From humble beginnings with two buildings and about 50 teacher training students, the institution has grown to serve more than 13,000 students annually in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in engineering, business, health sciences, education and arts and sciences.
Supporters can specify where they want their gifts to make the most significant impact, whether scholarships, academic programs, athletic teams or student organizations. They are also encouraged to share Trine Day messages from Trine University alumni social media accounts.
The goal for Trine Day is $18,840 raised for the Trine Fund and $1,884 for each athletic team.
“Just as our founders gave of their resources to establish Trine University, we encourage all of our alumni and friends to join us in preparing future generations of Trine students to succeed, lead and serve by giving generously on Trine Day,” said Christine Miller, director of annual giving. “Any contribution helps make a significant difference in the lives of our students.”
