Sports have always been a passion for Tony Miranda.

Miranda came to Trine University to continue playing football. But, during his sophomore year, a knee injury required a season-ending surgery. Miranda came back and started his next two seasons.

This injury ended up being very beneficial for Miranda. “I realized that there was much more to life than football and I gained a newfound determination to go be as successful as possible in the business side of the sports industry,” he said.

Miranda went on to complete internships with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

Miranda, who graduated from Trine University in 2014 with a Bachelor in Business Administration, is now working as the Manager of Client Services for Indiana University Sports Properties, a division of Learfield.

Miranda is responsible for acting as the liaison between Learfield’s properties and Indiana University, which includes maintaining and supporting the relationship with Indiana University Athletics, Licensing, Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Alumni Association and all other entities of Indiana University.

He is also responsible for controlling the marketing and sponsorship rights for the school’s athletic departments. This includes putting together marketing packages from different companies that include radio assets, in-venue signage/promotions, print ads, Web ads, social media concepts, unique hospitality opportunities and more.

“Looking back, I am glad I came to Trine for many more reasons than just football. The business school, the career development office, the advisors, everything helped me get to where I am today,” he said.

Miranda added, “My education helped prepare me to talk effectively and professionally in the workforce. It also taught me the importance of gaining as much experience as possible. My time at Trine prepared me to communicate efficiently and be a great team player.”
