Summary
Trine University invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor capable of teaching sport management and communication classes.
We are seeking a sport management professional with experience in organizational/corporate communication. The 4/4 teaching load will be split between the BSBA in Sport Management and the Communication program in the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
High quality teaching is Trine University’s first priority; however, faculty members are also expected to engage in professional development activities, develop/maintain appropriate industrial contacts, and serve as an academic advisor for students. Service, in the form of committee work, advising student organizations, etc. is highly valued. In general, faculty are expected to spend 80% of their time on teaching and 10%, respectively on scholarship/professional development and service.
Education and/or Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional work experience in college or professional sports
- Extensive experience in business, organizational, or corporate communication
- A demonstrated education or experience that would support the teaching of specified Sport Management areas.
- A commitment to serve as a student advisor, student organization advisor, and active member of an undergraduate teaching team.
A terminal degree in Communication, Sport Management, or closely related discipline is preferred; Minimum qualification for the position is a Master’s degree in Communication, Sport Management, or closely related discipline. Candidates with at least a master’s degree and extensive experience in communication or sport management will be strongly considered.
