Summary:

The Department of Science in the Rinker Ross School of Health Sciences at Trine University invites applications for a full-time biology faculty position beginning August 2024. We seek a broadly trained anatomist whose primary teaching responsibilities will include medical microbiology and introductory anatomy and physiology (lecture and lab). Individuals with expertise in applied health-related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in campus community, contribute to a highly collaborative department, and advise and mentor students. 

The Department of Science at Trine University is a part of the Rinker Ross School of Health Sciences, and offers B.S. degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, environmental science, and forensic science. The Rinker Ross School of Health Sciences offers cutting edge and recently updated A&P, microbiology, biochemistry, organic, and physical/inorganic chemistry laboratories as well as space for student research. The department is well equipped with modern instructional aides (Anatomage tables) and laboratory facilities including a BSL-II microbiology teaching lab, a dissection lab, and a genetics facility.

Essential Duties:

  • Demonstrate expertise in biology, anatomy and physiology. 
  • Teach a variety of undergraduate courses.
  • Advise biology students.
  • Engage in scholarship and service to the department, university and the community, including occasional weekend and summer events
  • Work with the administration and faculty in the growth (recruitment and retention of students) and operation of the program
  • Meet with prospective students and their parents on campus visits
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required education:  

A MSc is required and Ph.D. in biology is preferred. Promising ABD applicants will also be considered.  Candidates with a background in anatomy and physiology and expertise in health-related fields such as medical microbiology and anatomy and physiology are strongly encouraged to apply.
