Employee Type: Full-time, faculty position in the Department of Humanities and Communication beginning August 2017.
A terminal degree in Communication or closely related discipline is preferred; Minimum qualification for the position is a Master’s degree in Communication or closely related discipline.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professional work experience in the media or public relations;
- Demonstrated experience advising student media and/or working in sports broadcasting (specifically play-by-play and/or color commentary);
- A demonstrated record of excellence and innovation in teaching;
- A commitment to service as a student advisor, student organization advisor, and active member of an undergraduate teaching team.
The Department of Humanities and Communication at Trine University invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor position with a specialty in one or more of the following (1) journalism; (2) AV production; (3) new media production; or (4) PR writing. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching writing in a variety of forms such as journalism, technical writing, new media writing, and first-year composition, as well as expertise in one or more of the following fields: journalism, radio/television production, new media web production, public relations, or technical/professional writing. Special consideration will be given to those with a background in sports broadcasting and/or student media advising.
Service to the department and the university is highly valued. This can take many forms from advising student media, working in university sports broadcasting, advising student organizations, assisting with the many departmental activities, and helping to grow the English and Communication majors.
