Assistant Director of Graduate School
The Assistant Director of Graduate School is a vital position to assist the Director of Graduate School to ensure the College of Graduate and Professional Studies graduate program runs efficiently. The Assistant Director of Graduate School is an experienced and motivated individual with organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate, assist, and overall aid in the efforts of College of Graduate and Professional Studies graduate programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promotion of academic programs and involvement in recruitment and retention of students
Assist the Director of Graduate School with graduation verification and graduate hooding ceremonies
Work with the Director of Graduate School and Assistant Vice President of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies to develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive graduate recruitment plan for the Directors of Admission and Academic Directors
Collaborate concurrently with the Director of Graduate School, Director of Online Learning, and the Director of Instructional Development to strengthen online student recruitment, retention efforts and the continuous improvement of graduate courses and alternate course delivery methods
Collaborates with the Director of Graduate School and Director of Assessment to develop new graduate academic programs and review current programs that are relevant to the non-traditional student market and will lead to the recruitment of students
Maintains a graduate school student advising load (including adding and dropping), along with maintaining accurate records for students
Travel to CGPS locations to assist in graduate school services
Collaborate with main campus Deans, Program Chairs, and Advisors to approve or deny undergraduate students seeking graduate level work (Graduate Permission Form)
In coordination with the appropriate Curriculum Coordinator, screen applications and conduct initial interviews for graduate school faculty
Responsible for additional duties and assignments as determined by the Director of Graduate School

Education and/or Experience
Masters degree required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Computer skills are required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
