Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that the appearance of Trine Properties meets the standards established by the University and the implementation of the Grounds Department Grounds Management Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the management and supervision of grounds personnel
- Responsible for assisting with the grounds management plan
- Conduct safety inspection of grounds equipment, fleet, and assigned areas
- Participate in Strategic and long-range planning meetings
- Training of personnel
- Plans all weekly work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards and goals
- Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish specified projects
- Frequently inspects all areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved
- Responsible for all inventory control and overseeing the equipment maintenance programs
- Communicates regularly with members of the top management to discuss goals, plans, and future plans
- Set-ups for special events
- Perform tasks: mowing, trimming, edging, seeding, and landscape/flower bed care
- Have the ability to operate skid loader, forklift, backhoe, mini-excavator, tractors, mowers, etc.
- Trim or remove trees
- Remove litter from Trine Property
- Transport trash from buildings to designated locations
- Maintain parking lots
- Maintain parking lot signage
- Maintain shop and grounds equipment safe working condition
- Prepare athletic fields for practice and competition
- Perform quality control inspections weekly of the assigned area
- Provide the Grounds Manager with budget input for the maintenance and capital improvement of grounds properties and equipment needs
- Plan and direct plans for all snow removal to provide for a clean and safe campus properties for all students, faculty, and staff
Education and/or Experience
- An Associate degree in science and technology, or three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Two years of experience maintaining a golf course, athletic fields, campus grounds care and maintenance, or landscaping.
