Director of Clinical Education, Physician Assistant Program

The Opportunity

Trine University is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, personable and optimistic person to join our team as the program's founding Director of Clinical Education. We are looking for someone who is as passionate about the PA profession as we are and who is eager to pass on that enthusiasm to the next generation of PAs.  This individual will be an integral member of the initial development team. 

Trine University’s emerging program in Fort Wayne, Indiana’s second-largest city, will address a significant regional need for outstanding PA graduates. Supported by the region’s two largest health care systems, the program will be based in the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Education Center on Parkview Hospital’s Randallia campus. The PA program is a key component of Trine University’s commitment to developing a world-class interdisciplinary education center in Fort Wayne.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In conjunction with the program director and other team members, the Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for establishing clinical sites for the experiential phase of training and assessing these experiences. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: interacting with clinical preceptors and troubleshooting, coordinating and teaching in the didactic and clinical phases of the program, advising students, curriculum development and evaluation, participation in the program’s comprehensive and ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes. This is a full time position.

Education and/or Experience

The individual must:

  • Be a physician assistant with minimum of a master’s degree, a current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in Indiana.
    OR
  • Be a physician with current eligibility or unrestricted license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in Indiana, certified by an ABMS or AOA approved specialty board
    OR
  • Hold other academic/doctoral qualifications and relevant academic/clinical experience and fit into the mix of professionals of the developing program.

Other requirements include:

  • An understanding of PA education is desired
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience
  • Successful academic experience of a minimum of two years is preferred
  • Strong organizational and computer skills

Salary

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
