Summary
The Communications Specialist is part of the team responsible for sharing the story of Trine University across a variety of platforms, including written and visual communication as well as social media. Communications efforts may be directed to groups including potential or current students, parents of students, alumni, Trine employees or the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications Specialist will work under the direction of the Senior Director of Content and Communications to:
- Manage and develop creative, attention-getting content for university publications, livestreams and social media accounts, as well as trine.edu
- Manage university social media accounts and assist with management of trine.edu
- Monitor conversations on the internet and interact with the public as needed
- Monitor trending hashtags and topics and integrate them to enhance the university’s social media presence as appropriate
- Collaborate with other staff to develop social media campaigns to support the mission, vision and initiatives of the university
- Expand into new social media platforms
- Track performance of university social media accounts and content
- Enhance the written and visual communication of the university
- Assist in producing written and visual content for Trine magazine, email newsletters and press releases
- Produce or direct photos and videos to enhance university publications and further the university’s livestream and visual communications
- Other duties, as assigned as by the Senior Director of Content and Communications and the Vice President for University Marketing & Communications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field
- At least 1-2 years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
