Summary

The Director of Instructional Design and Development plays an integral role in providing instructional design support to faculty teaching in the College of Graduate and Professional Studies/TrineOnline. The Director of Instructional Design and Development supports the delivery of high quality educational programs through faculty training, instructional design and online course development. The Director of Instructional Design and Development works with faculty and staff to design and implement educational materials appropriate for online delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and conduct training opportunities to provide faculty with instructional design and developmental skills that will enhance online course design and delivery.
  • Work with faculty to create engaging, interactive course content and learning activities.
  • Proactively identify instructional challenges and work with faculty and team members to implement solutions.
  • Apply industry standard instructional design principles and learning theories during the design process.
  • Design and implement assessment processes to improve and enhance online courses.
  • Make design updates to online courses based on TrineOnline and Quality Matters standards.
  • Research online learning trends, educational technology, instructional design, and industry standards and apply this knowledge to the TrineOnline learning environment.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for TrineOnline courses.
  • Serve as a Quality Matters resource for all TrineOnline stakeholders, stay current on certifications.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of online programming.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree required.

Preferred:

  • Five (5) years of work experience in instructional/educational technology, online education, or educational/training environment.
  • Experience designing courses using Moodle or other Learning Management Systems (LMS) and knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Certification in Quality Matters or other online certification of quality control in distance delivery of educational content.
  • Experience with multiple modes of instructional delivery, as well as faculty oversight and coaching.
