Summary

Full time, director position in the Franks School of Education beginning August 2022.  Doctorate preferred with a minimum five years teaching experience in K-12 U.S. public schools and a strong commitment to teaching excellence in both online and face-to-face learning environments.  Successful teaching demonstration may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the online transition to teaching program related to curriculum and instruction for elementary and secondary education.  The position includes transition to teaching administration duties, cultivating and maintaining relationships with K-12 school districts, identifying and hiring adjunct faculty, academic advising, and the supervision of instruction, field experiences, and student teachers.  Candidates must have a clear understanding of the challenges of first year teachers, the staffing challenges of K-12 school districts, the design and implementation of effective online learning environments, the function of teacher education programs including professional mentoring, and current research in teacher education.  Effective ongoing collaboration with colleagues and school partners is an emphasis for this position.

The Franks School of Education has a long tradition of preparing future teachers.  The program positions teacher education graduates to be effective P-12 educators through the incorporation of extensive clinical experiences and utilization of performance-based measures for assessing teacher candidates’ readiness.
