Summary

The Executive Director of Student Success provides oversight of the departments within the Office of Student Success and the administration of services related to meeting the developmental and academic success needs of the student body.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Retention:
    • Assist the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in developing and executing targeted student retention strategies and long-term planning initiatives.
    • Participate actively in institutional strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment between Student Success goals and broader university objectives.
    • Support university enrollment and retention goals through proactive engagement with students, including early intervention, personalized outreach, and identification of barriers to student success.
    • Lead the development and implementation of data-driven assessment plans to evaluate the effectiveness of retention efforts; analyze outcomes and recommend improvements to enhance impact.
  • Leadership and Administration:
    • Provide overall leadership for the Office of Student Success, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all department staff.
    • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and long-range goals to guide the operations and continuous improvement of the office.
    • Provide leadership development and professional support for division leaders within Student Success.
    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and continuous evaluation of all programs, resources, and services under the department’s purview.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and fiscal responsibility.
    • Oversee resource allocation to support program effectiveness and student-centered initiatives.
  • Campus and Community Collaboration:
    • Serve as a primary liaison between the Office of Student Success and other university departments, academic units, and external community organizations.
    • Foster collaborative partnerships that enhance student support services, create seamless referral processes, and expand developmental opportunities for students.
  • Student Environment and Engagement:
    • Maintain the physical environment of the LINK (Learning, Innovation, Networking, and Knowledge) center to ensure it is conducive to learning, engagement, and collaboration.
    • Provide night and weekend coverage and supervision as needed to ensure continuous support and accessibility for students beyond traditional business hours.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, contributing to institutional initiatives and special projects as needed.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: 
    • Direct supervision of subordinate department directors who supervise student, part-time and full-time employees in the following areas:
      • Library and Information Services
      • Academic Success Center
      • Accommodations Services
      • Student Support Services

Qualifications/Required Education

Master’s Degree or equivalent and substantial student success experience.  Knowledge of psychology, college curricula, counseling resources and facilities, and development theory, and academic evaluation guidelines.

Salary

Salary is competitive will be based on qualifications.
