Summary

As a member of the International Services and Global Partnerships team, The International Advisor and SEVIS Compliance Specialist works as the lead DSO and point person between International Admissions and Services to ensure smooth transfer of SEVIS records and assist with any Slate/Jenzabar/Sunapsis issues, immigration and regulatory questions that may arise.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead Designated School Official (DSO) for advising of international students
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining SEVIS records of nonimmigrant students
  • Understand SEVIS/SEVP/DHS and USCIS regulations to assure Trine University students remain in compliance with current regulations
  • Responsible for the management of the DSO team in creation of I-20s for admission purposes
  • Manage the processing of OPT/STEM OPT applications
  • Assist with CPT applications and advising
  • Monitor, review and fix the alert list in SEVIS
  • Responsible for providing the registrar’s office original documents for international student’s educational status
  • Assist the business office concerning student accounts, payments and student eligibility status
  • Assist the graduate school with academic action, advising, and student questions
  • Assist all departments to make sure students are maintaining visa status
  • Process and monitor transfer requests and Change of Status requests
  • Maintain scheduling of DSOs for seated courses at branch campus locations
  • Utilize Sunapsis software, organize SEVIS data processing and reporting under the regulatory guidelines, including mass registration and maintains data and quality control management
  • Provides accurate immigration information to international students and scholars, monitors and tracks student immigration status, and maintains appropriate records within Sunapsis and SEVIS
  • Assist the Assistant Vice President of International Services (PSDO), researches, interprets and applies federal and institutional regulations and policies to the specific situations of international students in F-status
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President or Vice President for Enrollment Management

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree is required. Preference will be given to those who have previous experience working with international students or customers and/or in a private college/university office of admission
