Trine alum, board chair Rick James inducted into Indiana Academy

May 03, 2013

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University's chairman of the Board of Trustees was recently inducted into The Indiana Academy.

Rick L. James, who leads Trine's board and is a founding partner and chairman of Metal Technologies, Inc., was among four individuals inducted on April 15. Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president, introduced James when he received the honor.

A graduate of Trine, James and his wife, Vicki, are avid supporters of the university, and the University Center is named in their honor. Many of the causes they support revolve around educational programs that benefit youth and students, as well as the arts, libraries, museums and their faith.

James, of Fort Wayne, is also recognized as world-wide leader in the foundry industry and he was selected by the American Foundry Society to participate in the International Foundry Forum in Prague in September. In addition, he is a board member of the Foundry Association, second vice president of the Foundry Educational Foundation and past board member of the Indiana Cast Metals Association.

He is also a member of the board of directors of the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana and DeKalb Health Foundation.

The Indiana Academy was founded in 1970 by Independent Colleges of Indiana to further the development of public service, higher education, the arts and sciences, literature and the general culture of the state through recognition of individual leadership, achievement and philanthropy designed to promote these ends.
