Trine sophomore earns scholarship from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security

FEB. 17 — Landon Pearson of Churubusco has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

landon pearsonPearson, a sophomore mechanical engineering major, graduated from Churubusco High School in 2014 and has also served as a volunteer firefighter on the Churubusco Smith Township Fire Department since 2012.

Pearson received the scholarship based on his “dedication to volunteerism and public safety,” the award notification from the IDHS said.

Recipients of the IDHS scholarship must be enrolled in an accredited Indiana college; have a GPA of 2.8 or higher; (on a 4.0 scale); and volunteer at a public safety organization such as fire, law enforcement or emergency management or medical services.
