Trusty receives 2 awards from ASEE

May 04, 2017

TrustyThomas Trusty, associate professor and chair of the Department of Design Engineering Technology at Trine University, has been honored with two awards by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

In March, Trusty received the ASEE Outstanding Service Award for the Illinois-Indiana Section during the organization’s Zone 2 Spring Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Trusty has served the organization as a campus representative since 2008, as Illinois-Indiana section webmaster since 2012 and as Illinois-Indiana section chair since 2015. He also served as Illinois-Indiana conference chair, with the conference held at Trine; was Illinois-Indiana section vice-chair from 2013-2015; and was the Zone 2 Conference technical chair for 2017.

“I was humbled to receive the Outstanding Service Award from the Illinois-Indiana section at the 2017 annual conference,” Trusty said. “There are many deserving colleagues in our section who invest their time and energy each year into the organization and annual conference. To be selected from this dedicated group is truly an honor.”

Trusty also will be recognized in June for Trine University maintaining the highest percentage of ASEE members in its section during the organization’s recent Spread the Word recruitment campaign. He will receive a plaque during the ASEE annual conference in Columbus, Ohio, on June 25.

“This is truly a reflection of the support provided by the university for our faculty, and shows the faculty commitment to continuing to add value to their courses by staying involved in an organization that promotes the sharing of educational research and new ideas,” he said.

An organization committed to furthering education in engineering and engineering technology, the ASEE has more than 12,000 members including deans, faculty, students and government and industry representatives from all engineering and engineering technology disciplines.
