Department of Humanities and Communication announces awards

Trine University’s Department of Humanities and Communication (HAC) has announced its 2020 departmental awards for outstanding students.

Mycah Houser of Valparaiso, Indiana, who graduated this spring with majors in English and communication, is the recipient of the Needler MacGregor Excellence in English Award. Houser is now working as a Patient Experience representative at Premiere Rehabilitation in Holt, Michigan.

Madison Sanderson of Leo, Indiana, who graduated with a major in communication with a professional focus on law and government, is the recipient of the Outstanding HAC Student Award. Sanderson is working as the finance/fundraising assistant for the Indiana GOP in Indianapolis.

The Jeanine Samuelson Award is presented to a graduating senior who has served as a mentor. Samantha Libler, an English major from Alexandria, Indiana, was nominated for the award by her peers, who cited her kindness toward students in need of help.

Langston Johnson of Elkhart, Indiana, who will complete his communication degree at Trine in December, was the recipient of the Golden Microphone Award for excellence in broadcasting and podcasting.

Jenna Niemeyer of Hoagland, Indiana, was named the Outstanding Writing Center Tutor. Niemeyer graduated from Trine this spring with a degree in English education.
