June 01, 2023
Trine University welcomes John Shannon, Ph.D., to his new role as the 17th president of the university. Dr. Shannon’s presidency begins today, June 1.
The university’s Board of Trustees selected Dr. Shannon, who most recently served as provost and senior vice president, to succeed Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., earlier this year.
Dr. Shannon enters the presidency during a time of record enrollment and financial strength for the university. The university served more than 9,500 students this past spring.
An expansion to Best Hall on its Angola campus will open this fall, and construction of the Dr. Earl and Melanie Brooks College of Health Professions facility, scheduled to open in 2024, is well underway.
“I’m thrilled to be part of these historic times, and I’m excited to lead this great university forward as we continue to help our students develop as learners and grow as people of character who are equipped to succeed, lead and serve in their communities,” he said. “We will maintain and build on our vision for an engaged, growing, dynamic university that adds value for students and their families through the education we provide.”
Trine University’s Indiana Alpha Gamma chapter of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity was recognized as the nation’s best chapter this summer.
For the second year in a row, Trine University has experienced a more than 50 percent increase in its official fall enrollment numbers.
