MSCJ provides new opportunities for Jennifer Jeffra

July 01, 2025

Jennifer JeffraJennifer Jeffra wanted to expand her horizons after serving in law enforcement for more than 20 years.

She found an ideal fit in Trine University’s Master of Science with a criminal justice major (MSCJ) and excelled in the program, earning the Excellence in Social Sciences award for the Class of 2025.

In addition to enhancing her work experiences, the Fanwood, New Jersey, student said the program has opened new possibilities such as teaching and consulting.

“For me, Trine University was the perfect combination of flexibility and quality education. Ever since my very first interaction with an academic advisor, I was treated uniquely, rather than as an ID in a system,” she said. “This positive encouragement made my decision to attend Trine that much simpler.”

She said her classes helped her develop the ability to analyze criminal justice issues from a broader perspective.

“I really appreciated the structure of the courses and how they were flexible but still challenging,” she said. “The discussions were engaging, and the professors were always available and supportive. It was clear they cared about helping me succeed, not just academically, but professionally.”

“Understanding how policy, leadership and research all influence the system provided a deep level of challenge while also expanding my communication and critical thinking skills.”

She plans to teach as an adjunct faculty member for a criminal justice program in the future.

“My hope is to apply everything I have learned in the field and through Trine to assist students in paving their career paths in this discipline,” she commented.

“If you’re passionate about criminal justice and want a program that’s both practical and flexible, I’d absolutely recommend Trine’s MSCJ,” she concluded. “Whether you're still working full-time or looking to shift your career, this program gives you the tools, support and confidence to take that next step.”
