The first doctoral program established at Trine University and the only fully accredited DPT program in the Fort Wayne region, the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is an intensive three-year, full-time program that once complete will prepare you to sit for licensure and finally practice in a clinical setting. The program consists of lectures, labs, and clinical education with an emphasis on real patient care experiences.

The program partners with many local health providers, including Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network, for clinical education during the first two years of the program as well as full-time internships in the final year.
Career-ready for a growing field
There is a growing demand for physical therapists and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Trine University helps to meet that need. As the knowledge base in the field has grown, physical therapists have had to increase their studies, making doctorate degrees the new standard.
The United States Bureau of Labor StatisticsOpens in new window predicts a 18 percent growth in the number of physical therapists needed through 2029, and reports the median salary in 2019 was $91,010.
Beyond academics
You'll work hard during the program, but we all need to relax and have a little fun sometimes. Beyond the academic and clinical education is a close-knit community of students, staff, and faculty to help you along the way. From field day to pub night, a Tin Caps baseball game or Thanksgiving carry-in, you'll get to know those in the DPT program both in and out of the classroom.
