Theatre department hosts local middle, high school students

Theatre WorkshopTrine University’s Theatre Department hosted 25 area middle and high school students for a workshop on April 3 in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts.

The workshop lasted 90 minutes and included five stations, including blocking, character development and directing.

Following the workshop, the students watched a rehearsal for Trine Theatre’s upcoming production of “The Matchmaker.”

“The parents that attended with their kids were totally impressed and asked us to do it for every show,” said LouAnn Homan, Trine Theatre director. “Out of all of those kids, only one had ever been in the Furth. Their eyes actually had stars in them!”

Trine chemical engineering students earn national distinctions

Trine University chemical engineering graduate Parker Reichhart has earned national recognition, receiving two awards in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Student Design Competition. The awards were presented during the 2025 Annual Student Conference, held Nov. 1–4 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Amanda Malefyt, Ph.D., professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at Trine University, has been elected to serve as a director within the Education Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), beginning her four-year term this month.
