High School Transcript Information for Homeschool Families

A high school transcript is an official record of your student's academic history. It provides colleges and universities with a clear overview of the courses your student has completed, the grades earned, credits awarded, cumulative GPA (if applicable) and expected graduation date.

For homeschool families, the parent or legal guardian typically creates and maintains the student's transcript. The transcript should accurately reflect your student's educational progress and be updated regularly throughout high school.

There are many excellent transcript templates available online. At Trine University, we do not require homeschool families to use a specific transcript format. You are welcome to use any professional, easy-to-read template that clearly presents your student's academic record.

If you are looking for a place to start, we recommend using the template provided below or another similar format.

Transcript Template Example

A well-prepared homeschool transcript should generally include:

  • Student's full name, address and date of birth
  • Parent/administrator name and contact information
  • Expected graduation date
  • A list of courses completed by academic year
  • Credits earned for each course
  • Final grades
  • Cumulative GPA (if calculated)
  • Any honors, dual enrollment courses, standardized test scores (optional), extracurricular activities or academic achievements you wish to include

Maintaining an organized and accurate transcript throughout high school will make the college application process much smoother and ensure your student has a complete record of their academic accomplishments.
