Longtime faculty, staff members retire

Several longtime Trine University faculty and staff brought their full-time careers to a close this spring. Faculty were honored with professor emeritus rank at the Commencement Breakfast on May 4.

Don Jones, Ph.D., had taught at nine other universities before arriving at Tri-State. The camaraderie he found here, as well as the university’s emphasis on teaching over research, convinced him to stay here. Read more

Majid Salim, Ph.D., associate professor, McKetta Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering

When Majid Salim’s advisor for his Ph.D. program told him about a teaching opportunity in Angola, Salim told him he didn’t want to go overseas. Read more

Debra Ann Van Rie, Ph.D., professor, Department of Mathematics and Physics

For Deb Van Rie, Ph.D., Angola was a stop on the Indiana Toll Road between her home in Mishawaka and graduate school at Bowling Green State University. Read more

Randy White, vice president for student services

After a tenure that has seen sweeping changes to campus and explosive growth in the residential student body, Randy White has retired as vice president for student services at Trine University. Read more
