Poe Night 2022

On October 27, the HAC Department hosted its 10th annual Poe Night. Professor LouAnn Homan organized an event set out to honor the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Students and community members gathered around the campfire to listen to their favorite works from the late poet. The cool October night set the backdrop as nine poems were read to the crowd. The MC for the night was Trine student Phillip Bernie, who introduced each reader as well as transporting the audience through the life and writing process of Poe.  A reading from “Macbeth,” performed by professor LouAnn Homan and community members Jan Thomas and Amy Oberlin, kicked off the night; it was a work that Poe found inspiration in for his own writings.  The evening rounded out with Poe’s most famous poem, “The Raven,” but featured some of his other works such as “The Bells” and “Annabelle Lee.”

As the night ended, the same violin music that provided ambiance throughout the event saw attendees out, as they pondered the words of Edgar Allen Poe.
