Trine University’s Theater Presents Dracula

By Haylee Richards

On November 11th and 12th Trine University’s Theater Department presented Dracula, directed by Associate Professor LouAnn Homan. Production consisted of 25 members, both cast and crew, to pull off this performance. Dracula is based on Bram Stoker's novel but was adapted by Steven Dietz for the stage. This event was open to the public as well as the Trine community.

I had the opportunity to see Dracula opening night, and I was immediately transported into the world of vampires and aristocracy. The eerie lighting helped to set the stage for a sinister plot with comedic elements. The guitar stylings of Lee Jackson set the mood for what would be an excellent performance.

All the actors interpreted their roles so well. The cast is as follows:

Amelia Mills as Renfield

Chantale Leavell as Mina

Annalise O’Daniel as Lucy

Benton Knox as Harker

Andrea Mendoza as the Maid

Dominic Garner as the Seward

Muriel Mackie as Dracula

Aidan Smith as Van Helsing

The production also featured an ensemble of Sean Carpenter, Cade Daffron, Anna Dressler, Andrea Mendoza, Ethan Merkle, and Parker Tillman. Each actor brought a unique perspective on their character, and I could tell that hours were put into making this production a success.

I cannot wait to see what the spring musical will bring from the Trine Theater Department.
